The approach
My approach to therapy is eclectic, which means that I utilise different therapeutic styles tailoring them to your individual needs. The basis for my work is client-centred and during our sessions you will be deciding where you want to go, and I will help you navigate through this process. It is my belief that a therapeutic relationship is a fundamental ingredient of a successful therapeutic process.
The methods
A structured form of therapy based on the idea that thoughts and beliefs impact our feelings and behaviour. The focus is on identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and replacing them with more adaptive ones. Developing coping skills and practicing new behaviours to better manage challenges.
Schemas are understood as maladaptive ways of feeling, thinking, and behaving formed as a consequence of unmet core emotional needs in childhood. The focus is on addressing these needs and learning new healthier ways of responding.
A mindfulness-based therapy that teaches acceptance and curiosity of one’s emotions, thoughts, and sensations instead of trying to get rid of them. The focus is on developing psychological flexibility by being present, open, and taking committed action guided by one’s values.
An evidence-based, structured therapeutic approach helping the brain to reprocess traumatic memories and integrate them in an adaptive way. EMDR utilizes different forms of bilateral stimulation (e.g., sets of eye movements, tapping) while the client is asked to recall traumatic experiences, including accompanying emotions, negative cognitions, and bodily sensations. Additionally, EMDR facilitates resource development and the acquisition of new coping strategies, which enable more adaptive responses to traumatic memories.
The procedure
The first two sessions are an intake during which your history will be taken. We discuss your expectations from therapy. Then, a treatment plan is prepared considering your personal goals. The following sessions are devoted to working on your request. The duration of a therapy process is individual and will vary from person to person.
